For most of us, our family is our life. Naturally, everything else comes second in regards to order of importance. According to most dictionaries, family can be defined as a unit consisting of members who are biologically related, or connected because of a close bond built over time. Regardless of how we define family, the point is that our loved ones are important to us. Many of those born 1996, which is coincidentally the same draft year as Kobe Bryant, will celebrate their 24th birthday. In honor of the fallen sports and pop culture icon, and the many families who have suffered a loss, due to the tragic accident which occurred this past week, we would like to express our gratitude for the family. We may not always get along, but we always stand up for another in moments of need. We value each other and, regrettably, may sometimes take one another’s presence for granted. But, as we have been soberly reminded, nothing is ever promised. And so, we ask each advisor, client, staff and Greatway Financial family member to take time out of their schedule today to spread love. Be it through text message, phone call, or – preferably – in person, make the time to show people you care for them while they are here with you.

The world we live in is uncertain, and can at times be as tragic as it is busy. Nevertheless, it is our privilege to be alive and celebrate life with those that are here with us. Particularly the birthday celebrants, born in 1996. May your 24th year be a glimpse of the wonderful future ahead. We appreciate each and everyone one of you. In the words of Friedrich Nietzsche: “In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony.” In summary, love is the epitome of positive energy, and we owe it to one another to share this wonderful gift with those that are dear to our hearts.
