Treat Yourself & Those You Love – Greatway Financial

Money and budgeting are important – most, if not all of us, understand that. However, there are times in life where the moment calls for enjoyment. Because a life without quality time and love are as damaging as bad spending habits.

Indeed, we work hard for our money, and we should ensure that our money works hard for us but let’s not forget to enjoy that money too. It’s important to treat ourselves and those that we love. Deprivation is merely an unhealthy way to form good habits. Completely omitting things that we crave, and deserve, can have the opposite effect than intended – in terms of happiness and fulfillment in life. We believe that relationships and life lacking some kind of “healthy” indulgences will surely produce feelings of resentment, frustration, and depletion. Thus, those sentiments will inexorably lead to breaking good habits. Therefore, instead, a reward or treat should be built into the budgeting habits of our personal finances in order to help us stay on track – and be happy while doing so. “Family and friends are dear to us and we deserve and have the right to, spend a little time – and money – with one another too.”

In this busy, techno-centric world, it can often seem difficult to find ways to avoid burning out financially and emotionally. To help yourself feel rejuvenated and re-energized, find time to spend with those that you love and treat each other to something nice, it’s necessary. That is where the role of indulgence comes in. Doing something nice for yourself and others not only feels good but internally ‘resets’ your urges and motivates you to keep up with all the hard work that you’ve done to ensure good financial habits. Meaning to say that we shouldn’t feel guilty to indulge from time to time on quality time spending. (Related: Increase Quality Time and & Cut Downtime)

Rewarding ourselves is good, but there is a difference between “indulging” and “spoiling”. Let us remember that over-spending on lavish and costly extravagances, that serves no purpose, is not our idea of a “healthy” treat.  Self-care is an important part of stress management and treating yourself can do wonders when it comes to reducing your stress levels, but we must do so responsibly. Let’s not throw all caution aside when enjoying our quality time. The bottom line is that we only live once. Family and friends are dear to us and we deserve and have the right to, spend a little time – and money – with one another too.  So, spread the love and indulge in a little reasonable spending from time to time, it’s good for you, and you’re loved ones will probably appreciate it too! (Related: Family Time)
