One of the things that most of us have realized during this time is that we often may take seemingly common things for granted, particularly here in Canada. The recent pandemic has shown us that infrastructure and good health care programs or essential to any nation committed to the security and safety of its people. Canada is no exception to that.  The federal government has taken immediate and significant action to relieve Canada’s most vulnerable, in order to ensure that those who need help get it as soon as possible during these times.

According to Global News, the Canadian government seeks to provide more funding for seniors, vulnerable amid the pandemic. Furthermore, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced increased funding for seniors, youth and other vulnerable groups that have been impacted. Trudeau said the government will contribute $9 million through United Way Canada for local organizations that support practical services to Canadian seniors. According to Global News, these services will include grocery delivery, medications, and personal outreach to assess individuals’ needs and connect them to community supports.

As of April 6, 2020, the CERB support program launches to provide help for individuals and families, support for people facing unemployment, aid for people who are sick, quarantined, or in directed self-isolation and all the people who need relief the most.

Indeed, we are blessed to be in such a country. Though it is important to remain vigilant and continue our efforts to overcome this challenge,  we would be remiss to not acknowledge the wonderful work that our health professionals, essential workers are doing – and by extension, the support that the federal government and other institutions are providing to aid all of those that are in need right now.
